Hi,
I changed to Mint with MATE from Ubuntu with Gnome Flashback. First of all: everything is soo really great stable and consistend here!! Thanks for this!
Introduction to my system:
I have three displays and configured the middle one to be the primary. Therefore the mate-panel is shown on the middle display, which is good for normal usage.
The question:
For playing games I prefer the windowed mode to leave the side screens turned on. To maximise the space, I moved the gnome-panels to the left screen via command line and back to the middle screen when finished gaming: dconf write /org/gnome/gnome-panel/layout/toplevels/top-panel/monitor X
(where X is 0, 1 or 2 in my case).
This command allowed to automate things when being included in the game starter script or allowed easy usage via button in the panel.
Now I wonder how to achieve this with the mate-panel?
I already figured out that there seems to be a parameter for this:
mate-panel --replace --screen=2 &
But it doesn’t work as expected. The screen parameter seems to be ignored. There is no information in the manpage or in the help what to use as value for the screen parameter - maybe I have to enter s. th. different there?
Disclaimer
I know I can move the panel manually, using the Alt
key and I will do it like that until I find out another way. But - as described above - this is not the intended final solution.
