No live session on Dell Inspiron Mini 1012, what now?

I made a live USB and wanted to test it on a Dell Inspiron mini 1012.

Some hardware spec’s:
Intel® AtomTM N450 Single Core, 1.66GHz, 512K L2 Cache
1GB,DDR2,800MHZ capped at 667Mhz bus
Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150
Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g Half mini-card

When I tried to bootup from the USB it froze when the the menu and the menu were build.

I am so used to have a live session, I don’t know if wise to try to install Unbuntu MATE.
Or should I use an other distro like Lubuntu or Pepermint on this hardware?

Thanks in advance, Mathijn

Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit ISO? I’ve had to use the 32-bit one with netbooks that have those older Atom processors.

I did use the 32-bit iso and I tested the live USB on another laptop to make sure it worked (and it did  ).

Looks like someone else had a similar problem:

I would try playing with the boot options. Not the same machine, but a while back I had to install Lubuntu on an HP Mini 1000 and had to use the nomodeset option.

Thx. I haven’t had any succes with UbuntuMATE

I have installed Pepermint with succes.
