Had to do the partial upgrade two days ago - 2017/07/27 and all the updates since, my VLC player now has no video.
A whole bunch of graphics got updated and VLC can be picky. By the way, there's a discussion about this "Partial Upgrade" over here but this is the first non-updater result I've heard.
I can offer a popular way to resolve such VLC issues by setting the "Ouput" mode. Remember what it was originally and try one at a time. It may start working better than ever.
And here's another pain. I think for settings to take affect VLC has to be closed and reopened.
I'd wager this may do the trick but please let us know?
Thank you. Changing the VLC video output setting got video back. Still need
to find the best one.
