Obfuscate a link to imgur

When I posted a pic using a link to Imgur, I wanted it to require someone to go to the site to view the picture.

I guess I can change some letters in the link ?

Hi, @fixit7

If you're talking about writing a post, here in the "Ubuntu MATE Community", and have a link to a picture hosted in "imgur.com" instead of having the picture display inline in your post, a trick is to copy the picture URL from "imgur" and, in your post, in a new line, start by placing a single space (by pushing the SPACE key) and only then paste the link of your picture (and then press the ENTER key, so the URL gets replaced by the picture title). Here's an example:

I hope this helps

In the interests of knowledge preservation, it would be a better practice to upload images relevant to your own topics here (like a screenshot of an error) if it's your own image you're referring to.

If the image is hosted elsewhere, like Imgur, then if someone had the same question a year from now and the link is dead, that lowers the value.

@ricmarques's tip to reference an image URL can work. Discourse usually downloads a copy of the image if it's a valid image URL.

I posted it at Imgur because it was not UM related and I wanted to be respectful.

It sounds a little complicated.
