Odroid-XU4 update problems

I’m running Ubuntu-Mate 1.16.2 on an Odroid-XU4. I got a dialog box today that said “update” so I clicked Ok.

It spun and spun and seemed to get stuck. I left it for a half hour or more and finally gave up and rebooted the machine.

It came up but now my mouse is all funky. It is the acceleration concept is all whacked out.

I also, from the command line, tried apt update and apt upgrade and I get these messages:

And I also tried:

I have no idea what to do. The update bothers me much less than the mouse issue. I tried going to the mouse control panel and twiddle the settings but it seemed to have no effect.

Have you run rpi-update recently?

It looks like you have a dependency on an x86/64 kernel instead of the pi kernel. Isn’t the linux-image-xu3 package exactly that? A meta-package for the x86/64 kernel files?

I don’t have linux-image-xu3 installed on either my desktop or my pi. Is there anything on your pi you’d miss if it broke? Might be worth uninstalling the broken package, but messing with kernels can get ugly fast.

First time here… I put this in the wrong forum. I wanted it in just the “Support and Help Requests” and not the Pi subtopic.

I don’t have a Pi (well… I do but they are content and happy). This is an Odroid. If a moderator can move this to the proper forum, that would help. I assume I can not do that.
