I recently bought a new laptop and installed ubuntu mate right away (obv. 
). But since i installed i faced a peculiar problem where usb would not be recognised after boot. lsusb would not list the device. neither would dmesg show any usb activity when you plug in and out. Only way to get your usb device working, is to plug it in before boot. To solve the problem i came across a very good article[1] which helped me solve the problem and get usb to work without the hassle to reboot just to get my usb to get recognised. I added the option usbcore.autosuspend=-1 in my grub default configuration.
I hope it solves problem of someone facing the same problem. If there are any suggestion please add.
