I seem to be having trouble with places menu in that every time I select a place the Eye of MATE window pops up and indicates I have no pictures in that place I selected.
the Eye of MATE Image Viewer app is under Applications, Graphics and it works well. Maybe you need to Edit Menus (rmb on the mate symbol) and look around …
Sounds like the default application for handling folders and files somehow got changed. If you open the Control Center, look under “Personal” for “Preferred Applications”. Click on it, and look for the tab “System”, then click on it. On the bottom is the option for preferred file manager. It should say Caja, if it doesn’t, click on the drop-down arrow and reset it.
