I'm about to build myself a slim and fast Ubuntu Mate.
For what do I need?
Qt5 Packages in Ubuntu Mate?
For which programs do I need them?
Is it safe to remove the most Qt5 stuff in Ubuntu Mate?

Try install mini iso
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD
and from tasksel choose mate desktop
I don't want to install new.
My system is minimal and its running good, but maybe it's even better.
those qt 5 packages may be to help VLC look more native on UM as well as any other qt app
I want a slim Ubuntu Mate. I don't watch video over PC. Therefore can I remove all Qt5 modules/libs (packages)?
Is it safe?
Or does the Ubuntu Mate OS need some Qt5 packages to work?
I don't think the os itself needs them i think they are for better qt app integration also, for things like krita or any other kde apps that the user installs, as well as vlc which i previously stated
