Remove appmenu help

I need to remove appmenu as it has caused me to lose the menus for many programs.

And it is making it harder to use programs like Gimp, etc.

Can someone help me?

appmenu removes the menu from applications and adds it the panel via a plugin. If you don't have the panel plugin added to the panel, you'll need to remove this module. Removing it will depend on how you installed it. For more information, see: https://github.com/rilian-la-te/vala-panel-appmenu

Are you talking about the global menu if so it can probably be removed with apt

What do you mean by global menu?

sudo apt remove appmenu

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package appmenu

And also tried this.
sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove appmenu-gtk
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Virtual packages like 'appmenu-gtk' can't be removed

The menu on the panel that takes the menus from the application like in a Mac or Unity setup

Also something I use at times is "apt search" then some of the words in the item name or description to find the specific item

Thanks so much Bernie.

Got my menus back.

I do get one popup.

The panel encourntered a problem while loading AppmenuAppletFactory AppmenuApplet

Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration

Delete or dont delete

Go ahead and delete it's just a configuration left behind, you may have been able to just remove the menu from the panel to get your menus back but if you're not using them then you should be fine
