Rhythmbox - GStreamer installation missing plug-in

Hi
I added a new radio station. The link works on other players
When trying to play there is this message: Gstreamer installation is missing a plugin
While I accepted ALL those appearing in the Preferences tab.

Any of you know how to address that ?

Thanks

W

From what I could gather by doing a quick search, all results pointed to the same: are ubuntu-restricted-extras installed?

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

also try this:

sudo apt install gstreamer1.0-plugins-base gstreamer1.0-plugins-good gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

But first it would be good to take a look here:

That station may be using a new unrecognized format for the stream ... and may need a new Codec not previously installed ... IF   it is available.

Maybe force re-installation to ensure proper rebuild and any new additions.

Otherwise, you would need to

  • analyze the stream format to determine which is the appropriate Codec for that format,         or

  • if other formats are available for that stream, choose another one which might be recognized from amongst the installed Codecs.

Does it give any other information? Can you try running rhythmbox from a terminal and see if it provides other debug output?

Thanks guys
I got a new link from the radio station and it now works…so the issue was probably not at Rhythmbox level.
So this request may be ‘out of tune’ now….
