RipOff can't find any plugins

I’ve just installed RipOff and it’s mp3 plugin using synaptic from universe and multiverse repos respectively. Ripoff finds the CD and labels all the tracks correctly, but when I hit extract, it comes back with, “no valid decoding plugins found”.
So is it looking for the mp3 codecs in the same place synaptic has installed them, or is there some other problem? Could it be because of the two different repos?

Next question, is there any other CD ripper that actually works?
I’ve tried VLC, but I can only do it one track at a time, going through the whole setup procedure with every track.

OK, I’ve answered my own question, uninstalled “RipOff” and installed “Ripper X” Haven’t listened to the results yet, but it uses CD-paranoia, that I’ve used before with success. Converts the whole CD to mp3 with one press of the button.
