Hi All,
At the school I work at we have a largish number of netbooks. As you can imagine, these are struggling away running Windows 7. What I would like to do is the following, but, do you have any advice on this?
- Install Ubuntu Mate (of course)
- Bind to Windows domain to allow domain logins
- Allow access to home folders and possibly shared drives too
- Use PXE boot to install Ubuntu Mate on these netbooks and automate a domain bind
- set the panel layout for each user to redmond
Thanks in advance!
I would download a fresh copy of the latest LTS version of Ubuntu Mate and make my own version using something like Ubuntu Builder, then create my own ISO complete with all the features I want including Samba for all my networking needs:

Hope it helps.
Thanks a lot for the ideas and links. I will have a look when I get chance and report back my findings.
