I am having trouble using Mate search to find strings in files.
I also tried using bash*.*
For me it seems that you forget to place asterisk (*
) in Name contains: field.
If you add it, the search will be successful:
Moreover on my 16.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS systems it works even with empty Name contains::
Hope this helps
It did not find anything.
What is name contains? Does it refer to file name?
Just to be clear, I am trying to search my bin directory for the names of files with the text ‘bash’ in them.
What @Norbert_X did will come up with that result. Follow the image exactly.
