Serious goof in Grub/Partitioning/fstab

In an attempt to further myself in the linux world, I started an effort to build a linux system myself at LFS. I thought I, perhaps, could handle this. I failed. I didn’t even make it 3 pages in. Although, if you don’t try you never fly.

I made it as far as partitioning a space to build, and adjusting the fstab file. Trying to run commands. Nary of the commands afterwards failed to execute, so I thought “let me just not destroy this install” so i deleted the new partition and took it off of the fstab file. After i rebooted it proved disastrous as it took me straight to windows.
When I “esc” to boot options ubuntu is listed but takes me to “grub>”. I tried going through the motions in grub but it fails to locate even the kernel or anything.
Selecting the “efi” does nothing.
On a live ubuntu usb and grub (and in windows) i can see the partition (/dev/sda7 is my install and /dev/sda4 is a linux swap)(or (hd1,gtp7) etc).

I have tried, via a live usb, to mount the partition and copy it in order to possibly keep my data and just do a fresh install.

Then I thought, I better take it to the community.

I know it’s either something super simple that I am way overlooking or i did something so hardcore that it’s devastatingly wicked!! Hahaha!

I have some pictures.

I downloaded and flashed “grub boot repair” to a usb drive.
Followed on screen prompts.
Reboot went straight into windows.
Another reboot, “esc” into the boot menu and selecting “ubuntu” brings up a grub menu with 6 times more items than before.
Alas, I am able to boot into my beloved UM system.
Breathe…
