Funnily enough I ran into this exact problem a couple of days ago on 16.04 at work. 
SSR is in the official repos 17.04 onwards, but 16.04 and 16.10 will need to use a PPA.
That was already configured, but there was a logic bug where the “configuration” for Xenial and Yakkety was not being chosen, but it’s been fixed now for the next update.
