When installing the latest update (kernel) this morning it hung in updating snaps. After waiting for several minutes I tried to close the update window and got the message software updater not responding with 2 options wait of force quit. I pressed force quit and the window closed and then rebooted the system. Software updater then wanted to remove the old kernel and headers. Again it hung in updating snaps. I repeated the above and forced quit. Everything else APPEARS okay. Any ideas as to how to fix the problem or is it a kernel issue?
Possibly try sudo apt-get update to update package lists
Scroll down to bottom of window and see if it shows anything.
In my case had a PPA that changed and was holding up the updater.
Edit:
If problem shown have to correct and then let software updater try again. In my case unchecked the offending ppa.
