Been playing war thunder in Ubuntu MATE 15.04 and some graphics flicker ( not all just some like close by trees ) and i have been trying to figure it out. Tried all different setting with no luck so i thought i would try another distro ( MATE build ) just to see and so i installed the 17.2 MATE 1.10 and no graphics flicker. What could it be ? could it be the kernel ? or is there something in MATE 1:10 that makes it better ? UbuntuMATE uses kernel 3.19 and mint uses 3.16.
and idea’s would be appreciated…
What about the graphic driver, are they different? This command will display my driver version in terminal:
grep -i "x driver" /var/log/Xorg.0.log
I just have a intel integrated graphics on a i7, never installed a driver and dont know what it is… this command you show doesn’t work for me in mint MATE. just goes back to the " $ " I installed mint MATE tying to figure this. this works for you in Ubuntu MATE? Thanks for the help !
Check your software sources for (tab) “Additional Drivers”. Its somewhere in the main menu or just call it up in terminal:
software-properties-gtk
This should list available drivers.
I would also like to know more about your graphics, would you please try:
sudo lshw -C display ; dpkg -l | grep nvidia
See if that will give you anything.
“software-properties-gtk” didn’t show any drivers.

And this is in Mint MATE. I dont know what it was in ubuntu MATE i would have to reinstall it.
It would probably been the same. Thats what I have found online.
I have had a look at "3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller" and have not hit on any useful information.
This could be pursued further, but since you no longer have U-mate installed, it cannot be tested.
Well i don’t know what there is to change as far as setting, The only setting i have is in the game graphics and they did nothing. So i thought i would see if it was the distro that’s why i installed mintmate. so its got to be something that’s installed with the distro correct? But thanks for you help ! i will wait till U-Mate with 1.10 comes out and see what it does, but for now i’m going to use mintmate to play this game. That flickering would drive you crazy !
