I would like to "pop" that annoying popup window for downloading files in Firefox Version 142.0.1.
I hope I do not have to relearn assembly language to go into Firefox ![]()
Nothing here helped.

You need to correctly assign values to your settings.
The two things to start with are:
[1] Where Downloading
Uncheck the box next to "Always ask you where to save files".
[2] How Downloading
If the above option is too global ( ... and it usually is), then you need to "selectively" change the settings from "Always ask", which is what I normally want, to "Save file", which should save directly to the specified download point. Just make sure that download point is where you think it is, otherwise, you need the ask always to discover, on a type-by-type basis, where the file was last saved, which is where all future instances of that type will go, and that could be different for each type!!!
"Checking always ask" did the trick. I no longer see the popup window for
downloads.
Firefox developers are interesting. They are a bit "sneaky" as a link to how to remove the popup window, did not work.
Had a good day.
