Hi,
Anytime terminal replies in a red font the message is very blurred. Is there any way this can be resolved?
Hi @Huxley, It doesn’t really look that bad here which indicates it’s a very local monitor problem. The same monitor viewing your picture is also bad-looking I assume? If you have another monitor on another system check it out.
My first thought is you might get some relief by adjusting video. Lower contrast and color level in particular. Coincidentally, “Red Blooming” is a very old CRT problem.
EDIT: Have to mention by adjusting video I mean at the monitor. If you’ve got something like an nVidia tool for tweaking video I’d turn it off.
Thanks, Bill. You’re right, it is the monitor. I’m hooked up to my t.v which probably needs an upgrade. A combination of adjusting the contrast and changing the background from a solid dark (I don’t like bright colours) to a pic of outer space has made it slightly more readable…at least until I buy something new to watch on.
Thanks again for your help.
Edit*
The only Nvidia software installed is Nvidia X Server Setting. I had a quick play with it, but no joy. You called it right with the crappy screen, so I’m happy to say the case is solved.
Great! Thanks for the confirm and since you sound like me, not liking bright colors, we’ll both have to chuckle at the way these things come out of the box these days. Good Luck!
I had a similar issue with somebody who wanted their kid’s gaming PC fixed up. A little bit a thermal paste, some cable management, cleanup and eventually it came out alright.
When hooked to the person’s television back at their house (since I knew them well enough) I saw the video was blurry when up-close, until it was explained to me the television was one of those projector deals. Lo and behold, standing a foot away from it everything appeared crisp and not-so-blurry.
So moral of the story is, know how your TV works. If it so happens to be a big screen TV that blows up an image using projector and mirror magic on the inside, you’re probably sitting too close.
Mine’s a regular 32" flat screen t.v and I sit a good few feet away from the screen - sitting too close gives you square eyes, or so I was told. Handy tip for the future though, as I’ve not looked into projector-type televisions.
