Finished off two blissful, and relatively active, full days using Xenial Xerus 64-bit on an OptiPlex-780 - 3.7 GiB - Intel Core2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz Γ 2 - with 196.6 GiB available space.
A half dozen tiny (buggy) issues are now entirely gone, thanks to 16.04; and the big X - missing mouse cursor is likewise fixed on 16.04 - and that was not so tiny of a problem
All in all, this beta1 is panning out for me, to already be better - in some areas, than 15.10.
The only downside so far - for my set up, at least, is the fact that I fresh boot, with Wily, on this computer - at just under 300 MiB - and now I get around 400 MiB on startup with Xenial Xerus.
Same here, testing 16.04 beta1.
The welcome screen is great.
The only issue yet is after installing caja-dropbox and checking autostart I did not do so. So I copied caja-dropbox.desktop to .config/autostart manually. But this is a very minor thing.
Mate desktop is also improved. Especially on laptop, screen brightness settings was not kept, now it is better.
May I say, βthe problem with ubuntu mate 16.04 beta 1 is that, there is no problem at all.β
I also like unity desktop but mate is more comfortable for me, when working with a lot of open windows. I think Ubuntu Mate will be one of the best distros.
Many thanks to the Ubuntu Mate team :
I also wonder, if the automatic bugs we report from the OS when a crash happens are useful for the developers or should they be reported on launchpad?
