The dmesg file is empty, all it contains is:

But in the terminal running dmesg if giving data.

I’m not 100% positive of this, but I don’t believe dmesg is an actual file to be displayed, but rather a command used to examine logged events. I’m not entirely certain why dmesg is listed in log file viewer

@pfeiffep is right. I think it’s a bug with the Log Viewer application since it’s showing the same message here.
Running dmesg
in the terminal shows the entire log.
