Tilda broken overnight?

Running Ubuntu mate 15.04. Today I noticed that my Pc shutdown on its own. I turned it back on and upon login got a message from tilda saying that the keybindings are invalid. Changed the keybinding hotkey but tilda is just a black square now. Its functional but is super laggy.

Not sure what happened. Is there a way to fix/restore it back to the default mate settings

Have you been changing window managers? I’ve noticed that can confuse tilda after rebooting.

You’ll need to right-click in tilda then choose preferences to get it back how it was.

You may need to change:
On general tab: tick ‘start tilda hidden’
on appearance tab: the height and width sometimes mess up
on colours: this can switch too
key bindings: change back to F12

hope it helps!

I’m trying to get the colour back to the way it was… The width and height is off and the changes aren’t saved when logging in and out.

I am able to get into preferences… I have adjusted tilda many times now.

are you able to right-click and get to the preferences?

Width and height are easy to change. Go to preferences and there are a couple of numbers. You need to set horizontal to 100 and vertical to, say, 40.

It is a known bug, not related to Mate itself. Somehow the config doesn’t get saved even during normal shutdown/logout.

AFAIK there is no proper workaround, besides keeping a backup of ~/.config/tilda/config_n. Then, when it brakes, quit Tilda, restore from backup & start it again ( not tested, but should work )…

I gave up on Tilda. it never worked right since the day I installed 15.04. Even when it seemed to start OK, it was unbelievably slow. Went back to Yakuake. Much less stress that way.

I’ve got to be honest and say that I use Guake cos I prefer it.
