Running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 LTS Acer 64bit laptop with a touchpad. Mate will be working fine then all sudden mouse pointer will not move. If I click left or right mouse button all I get is ding ding. I can use tab and enter to navigate, but have to reboot to get touchpad working again. Can’t find touch pad anywhere in dconf editor. Please help.

Have you tried running the following terminal commands? (Ctrl + Alt + t):
sudo apt-get --fix-missing install
The above command downloads and installs any missing packages on your system.
sudo apt-get --fix-broken install
The above command downloads and installs any broken dependencies on your system.
