Ubuntu Mate 16.04 First Time

Hello Guys,

First, let me thank you. I love Ubuntu Mate 16.04, everything works fine and my Creative Recon3d too.
This is amazing, i heard from many problems with this soundcard. Great!

But i have my first time problems, it hurts a bit. xD
So, my problems:

1. My Printer Canon MG5350 works good, but i don´t have my scanner software. So what can i do?
   Let me explain, i can scan a document or whatever and send it over the printer menu directly to my windows computer over network.

2. The new Software Bootique, pew. Is there no search feature??

3. Can i upgrade my Mate Desktop 1.12 to 1.14?

last but not least, i love ubuntu mate 16.04.

Hi. Some answers:

1. My EPSON printer has similar function, but the “Scan to PC” would only work with the Windows utility. Instead, use Simple Scan. It will connect and perform a scan.

2. Nope, no search feature yet. That’ll come in 16.10.

3. At the moment, no. Keep an eye on this discussion:

Wow first of all great job @Wimpy and team for the new release of MATE 1.14 Changelog My question is if we will have by default 1.14 or we need to upgade the interface via a ppa? If we will upgrade via a ppa when we will have that ppa available in 16.04?

Simple Scan found my printer, but i get this message when i click on scan:
“Unable to connect to scanner”
What can i do?
The Settings seems ok for me.

First of - I have no experience with Cannon
I found using Google that in the past Cannon had drivers that were manually installed as recently as Ubuntu 15.04 - maybe contacting Cannon is an option
