Ubuntu MATE 16.10 Alpha 1 is released

The first alpha of Ubuntu MATE 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" has been released today.

Take caution... this is experimental territory. :construction:

We are preparing Ubuntu MATE 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) for distribution on October 13th, 2016. With this Alpha pre-release, you can see what we are trying out in preparation for our next (stable) version.

I’m thoroughly impressed by the list of changes since 16.04.

@Wimpy

Ubuntu is trying to drop i386 images. So will we get i386 images in 16.10?

Short answer is yes, 32bit is not going anywhere soon.

Long answer here

The Alpha1 is very stable. Apart from some ppas that cannot be installed, e.g. wine 1.8, it can be deployed in production use.
