Ubuntu Mate 18.04 How to set up Chinese Pinyin in language support

Hi
I want to set up so I can type in Chinese mandarin in pinyin.
How should I set it up so I can change between languages between
Swedish, Danish and Chinese Mandarin Simplified or traditional?

This you are asking ins not as straightforward as it would seem. The best way I found to do so was to install ibus system. I used synaptic to install:

  1. ibus
  2. ibus-table-libpinyin

then should use ibus input method instead of others in Control Center>Language Support

then in Control Center>IBus Preferences>Input Method add the “Chinese-Intelligent Pinyin”

Arrange the preferences of the Input Method to your liking and you are good to go with Pinyin typing of Simplified Mandarin. Then you can change your input methods with the key combination you have set.

I could not get Russian Yawerty to be typed through IBus though. But Chinese works quite ok.
