lol no problem @sgage, I was just freaking out because mine didn’t do that
I just realized that, although I do so the icons for most files, I do not have them for graphical files (jpg, png, etc.)
No problem, it was a great mystery while it lasted.
Oops
So I need to ask for a software enhancement? Where would I do that?
Or can I install nautilus (that did previews in list view fine in Ubuntu 12.04)?
The Github issue I linked to in my previous post would be a good start.
Yes, thanks. I have added my comments to https://github.com/mate-desktop/caja/issues/153.
I still think that removing a feature like that is a bug. If I can’t get an encouraging response I shall have to look for another file viewer.
Not so fast!
Look what I have got on a "Save As" dialogue box! Some of the file icons have the preview I am looking for. More mystery.
If I open the files in that folder with Eye of Mate Image Viewer and do Save As and then cancel on each file, I end up with this dialogue box.
All the files have their thumbnail showing.
This does not affect the way caja behaves though.
OK, I have a workaround - I have installed Nautilus side by side with caja.
(Although I gather from
that my problem with caja not showing previews in List View has been fixed: however I don’t know when that will be available for me to install in Ubuntu Mate 16.04 - it will be caja version > 1.18, I think)
