[UNSOLVED] Slow connections in case of down of one or more sites

While surfing I noticed that if one or more web sites included in the browser html page unattainable page does not appear, even in part. Hitting on debian mate this problem does not stop. I did some tests with iptables. Why this strange behavior to surfing the Internet?

What browser are you using?

I try by Firefox and Chromium.

I don’t understand exactly what you mean. Do you mean you can’t access websites because it says unattainable website?

If so, change your DNSs to:

89.33.43.71
91.239.100.100

While surfing I noticed that if one or more links on the page that I’m visiting is not reachable the whole website is displayed. I tried with Debian mate is this problem does not occur. The content of the accessible links are still displayed. The remainder, of course, not. I tried to simulate the error situation with iptables blocking some links to html pages. Indeed this browser in ubuntu mate is not able to display anything. The page is white and the lower left corner remains blocked the site link that the browser would have to visit. I hope I was clear in exposure (use google translate).

There are further indications / suggestions?

Google Translate output is not really clear.
What I understand:

  • When you browse websites, if one element of the page is not reachable (such as an image hosted on a different server) then the whole page is blank
  • You can’t reproduce the issue in debian MATE
  • You can reproduce the issue by blocking addresses using IPTABLES

Now then,

  • I’ve noticed a similar issue sometimes when browsing slashdot.org where the whole page is blanked after successfully loading when one HTTPS request fails
  • Is your problem also only HTTPS, or can you reproduce using only HTTP?
  • What version of Ubuntu MATE are you using? (Please provide output of command: inxi -S)
  • What version of Firefox are you using? (Please provide output of command: apt-cache policy firefox)

Also, if possible provide your test case for this:

  • URL
  • Set of IPTABLE rules

With the latest updates applied the problem seems solved. If there are further updates will post updates. Thank you all for your attention.

After a short time the problem occurs again, it seems to have no solution. :frowning:

As usual, after the updates, the problem seems to disappear to occur shortly thereafter. Really a puzzle.
Anyone have any ideas / suggestions? :hushed:
