Currently running:
UbuntuMATE 16.10 64bit Kernel: 4.8.0-59-generic
In the wake of the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities I’ve been trying to update my kernel version to 4.13
When I run the following nothing gets updated.
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
How do I manually and safely update my kernel?
Check your support satus with ubuntu-support-status
UbuntMATE 16.10 does NOT receive any security updates since June 2017.
Do do-release-upgrade to 17.04 and again to 17.10 OR do a fresh install either to 16.04 LTS or 17.10.
Only 16.04 and 17.10 automatically receive the patched kernel.
