I have 8 Gbytes of physical ram.
My integrated video card (Kaveri Radeon R7 Graphics) can use up to 2 Gb.
Is that why
free -m shows 6913 Gbytes instead of around 8000?

I have 8GB RAM and integrated Intel/AMD graphics, I disabled the AMD GPU and use the Intel part. Mine shows as 7.6 GB available RAM so I would say that your GPU is using the bit you are missing?.

@fixit7 you should find a setting for changing that RAM allocation to the video card in your BIOS .
