Hello,
I am posting this as a stab in the dark because I have been having this very weird and random sound problem since I got this new system. Over 1 year ago.
During that period I have ran both 18.04 LTS, 18.04.01 LTS alongside 18.10 and all gave me the same problem.
The problem I am having is that sometimes, rarely, static appears in my sound.
I can listen to music for hours until this happens but it always ends up happening. Regardless if I'm using a LTS or not.
I am mostly using Audacity and listening to MP3 when it pops up. But tonight, I have found that the fix for this is/was to close firefox.
Yes, I have no clue how Firefox, Audacity and my sound drive are related but they are.
So picture this: You enqueue a couple of dozens (12x4 for example) MP3s into Audacity and go surf online while having a couple of drinks.
Then, some more drinks later, statics start appearing into your sound. What do you do? Well, I close and restart Audacity. But that never did anything to fix anything immediately.
However, closing Audacity, closing Firefox, reopening Audacity and then pressing PLAY makes the sound crip again.
I know this is very weird but that's been my reality for a couple of months now. I however have no clue on where to start troubleshooting this issue (Which could very well affect multiple systems).
Based on /proc/asound/cards I am using the following:
2 [Audigy2 ]: Audigy2 - SB Audigy 5/Rx [SB1550]
SB Audigy 5/Rx [SB1550] (rev.0, serial:0x10241102) at 0xd000, irq 35
Please advise on how I can help providing more infos in order to have this bug tracked and fixed.
Thanks,
