I am using a Lenovo w530 with Ubuntu Mate 18.04. There are two graphic chips on board : Intel and Nvidia. I can switch from one to the other without any problems. The resolution of the laptop screen is 1960x1080. When I connect an external screen on the VGA plug (the laptop one or the docking station one) it is not seen by the system. As I have a dual boot on this machine I tried to boot Windows 10 with exactly the same setup : VGA screen is recognized without problem. So logically, it’s not a hadware configuration problem.
