Wake from suspend for auto updates

I have been using Ubuntu Mate for about a year as my office OS. Love the OS !! My hat is off to the development team, awesome distro! However, in the spirit of continuous improvement;
Comment - It appears that power savings and scheduled updates are mutually exclusive.
Desire - Want to use the power manager to suspend after some time AND also want to schedule ClamTK to update and scan in the wee hours while I get my beauty sleep. In addition, want to schedule the update manager do its thing during these same wee hours.
So, Question - is there a way to have the schedulers wake the computer up from suspend to perform scheduled updates/scans and let power manager suspend again after updates are completed ?
