Welcome missing after recent updates

Hi all,

if Welcome is missing after recent updates to 18.04, the fix is to copy and paste the following command into a terminal as it appears to be a “Snap” app now?:

snap install ubuntu-mate-welcome --classic

Restart after doing so or log out and back in!.

Hi wolfman

I have not yet installed the welcome center, guess its time for me to do so.

I noticed its in synaptics as ubuntu-mate-welcome, but no --classic option.

What is this --classic option?

Hi @m1804,

I really don’t know, I assume it is the standard version that has been used in the last few versions of UM but cannot say for sure?.

All I know is that it is up and running in 18.04 now.

Have marked as solved so it draws peoples attention to the fix should they have the same problem!.

I found it didn’t work in time Beta 1 came out, but just tested today and with all the latest updates is back and working, same for Software Boutique. Also last few daily realises have that fixed already.

Hi ele,

mine was working before today’s updates, after that it stopped so I pasted the command above which solved my problem!.
