Hi,
Though I am not new to Ubuntu, I am a new Ubuntu MATE user after having used regular Ubuntu for quite some time. My Core2Duo couldn’t keep up (I assumed), so that’s why I switched to MATE. Happy so far.
However, I am a little confused about my graphics / resolution. My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT (I know, it’s pretty old). My display is a Philips 277E6EDAD (1920x1080 Full HD).
Seems that after each kernel update my screen resolution is all messed up (it reverts back to an ugly low and width-stretched resolution).
I either have to do a ‘sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall’ or a couple of reboots before the correct resolution is back on my monitor.
I am using the driver: NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.107 open source
Why won’t Ubuntu remember my resolution?
