I’ve been using a 1 terabyte seagate portable external HD USB3 that I’ve been using on a win10 laptop, if I set up a laptop on ubuntu, will this work on ubuntu?
It should. Windows usually uses the NTFS filesystem, which Ubuntu supports by default.
OK, great! thanks for you help!
The file manager in MATE is called Caja.
Another helpful program is called Disks. This should show any disk your computer detects, even if it is not mounted (opened to use). If there’s a disk or partition in Disks that is not mounted, you can press the green triangle to mount it and give you a link you can click to open it in Caja or give you an error message that might tell you what’s wrong.
