Will UM 16.04 receive kernel updates beyond the 4.4 one that originally came with the LTS release?

I am wondering whether UM 16.04 LTS will automatically receive kernel updates through the Software Updater beyond the kernel included in the original LTS release.

I’m pretty sure that Ubuntu 16.04 LTS will stay with 4.4.0-22

The LTS releases do get hardware enablement updates that you can opt-in to or are included by default in point releases on the images. In Ubuntu 14.04 the first hardware enablement update was 14.04.2 and included a new kernel version. I expect the same in 16.04, particularly to address AMD graphics :slight_smile:️

Continuing the discussion from [Solved] Screen flickering only when on battery skylake 16.04:

That would be great. I am asking because I have screen flicker issues on my new Lenovo Thinkpad T460 and I hope that a kernel update or hardware enablement update will solve these issues.
