Xcolorsel crashes

The xcolorsel application used to work in MATE 16.04 but it has issues in MATE 18.04.

To see the problem, bring up xcolorsel and click on the “Grab color” button. The cursor changes to a cross. Then if you click on any pixel on the screen, xcolorsel is supposed to grab and report the RGB components of that pixel.

However… in MATE 18.04 if you click on a mate-terminal, xcolorsel crashes with the message “X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)”. This used to work in MATE 16.04.

I am new to this forum and I am not certain whether this is a good place to submit a bug report. Please redirect me if needed.

PS: What other tools are there for grabbing the RGB components of a pixel? In MATE 16.04 there was a “gcolor2” application that did that too, but it does not seem to be available in MATE 18.04.

The right place would be Launchpad for packages that are in the Ubuntu repos. You'll have to create an UbuntuOne/Launchpad account.
