“you need at least 8.6 gb disk space to install ubuntu mate” is the error I get when I try to install ubuntu mate on my virtual machine. No know solution to this bug yet.
Have you set the virtual hard drive space bigger than 8.6 gig? The default is less than this, I think.
Bear in mind, there is a swap partition too that’s the size of the RAM allocated. One workaround is to choose the “Something else…” option and create a partition without any swap.
