Youtube dl quality question

When you DL a video from YouTube, with the settings at default, will that pull the best available quality from the site? My desire is to pull the best quality version I can, not too fussed at it’s format, MP4/MKV preferred but…

I am using the GUI not CLI

Have noticed some videos offer 1080 but the download I got was 720
example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw1NyrRrHPE

Not sure if i am missing something in the options

Is there a better option than using YouTube DL, if so what are folks recommendations?

Thanks in advance

I always use youtube-dl (cli). Works without a glitch. Here web page with readme.

Thanks, I have looked at that before, does not really answer my question though

I use Youtube Best Video Downloader 2.

When you click on Download, it gives various file formats available to download.
