16.04 Alpha 2 - System76 Lemur: Black Screen

System 76 Lemur with Black Screen

Looked at upgrading from 15.10 to 16.04 Beta 2 today, but when I booted from the iso, my monitor was blacked out ( not even backlit ).

First Attempt was to boot directly into install mode.

Second Attempt boot into “Try ubuntu…”

Here are my specs:

  • Intel HD Graphics 520 ( Sky Lake )
  • 3.1 GHz i7-6500U ( Sky Lake )
  • 16GB DDR3
  • 256 GB PCIe SSD (NVMe)

After plugging into a VGA monitor, I was able to re-adjust the display back to my laptop, but by default, it would use the VGA output.
