18.04 Not connecting to Ethernet?

No problems at all with wifi. But cannot connect to (Automatic) DHCP network.

If I add - via Network Manager GUI , a manual IP address, Netmask, & Gateway IP etc I will instantly connect.

No problems at all with 17.10 SSD that I just removed from my laptop.

Many are reporting unable to connect from resume problems with ethernet, this is not connecting al all!

Ethernet is Intel 82579 Gigabit.

Thanks for any help!

Strictly a hunch because I saw this in the 18.04 beta but it went away. Only when I set IPv6 to “Ignore” did I get IPv4 connectivity via DHCP. This is on the default connection called “Wired connection 1”.

G’day Bill.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes I tried this, but no difference.

So - I’ve swapped SSD’s & I’m back to 17.10.

No Ethernet is a deal breaker for me!

Fixed. Not sure but an update possibly did the trick.

Hey, can you tell me what kernel version you are running because with 4.15 and above my Thinkpad T430 with Intel 82579 loses ethernet connection after a couple of minutes or less. Thanks!

Mine sorted itself out with an update, also was not connecting from the moment you logged in.
