I have to ask because I don’t know. I have a nice little Macbook Air which is much faster than this computer which I normally use. I bought the Macbook to replace this one when my dog chewed up the keyboard but I found I don’t like Mac OS near as much as this new 18.04 Ubuntu Mate so I fixed this computer with a new keyboard. So I was thinking can I wipe the Macbook and install only Ubuntu Mate on it? This computer I have is a Pavilion 17 laptop with an AMD A4 dual core but the Mac is an i5 and it seems to be the superior hardware. Anyway thanks for you help if anyone knows! I have UM running on my macbook air. Ran into a few problems with that darn webcam. Took me a while to figure out. But besides that, it runs very smoothly.
PS: I installed UM alongside mac osx just in case though
Edit: oh and I am a complete n00b to Linux and UM, never used either one of them except on a VM for a few hours before it fed me up. So if I can do it, pretty much anyone else can
