25.04 - All MATE entries gone (Brisk Menu)

Following the sudo do-release-upgrade process, not only did I had to reset my panels but now I've also seem to have lost every entries from my menu.

I only have Favorites and Control Center.

That's unfortunate :frowning: If you type main menu in the search bar of the Ubuntu MATE (Brisk) Menu, does the "Main Menu" line for the application with that same name ("Main Menu") appear, as I show in the following screenshot?

If that "Main menu" line appears, can you click on that "Main Menu" line to see if if the "Main Menu" application opens, as I show in the following screenshot?

If that "Main Menu" application does open for you, are you able to click the checkboxes of the hidden (unselected) categories and programs to make them visible again (and then click on the "Close" button in the lower right corner of that window)?

For people that may not know: the "Main Menu" program is a menu editor that allows you to select which sections ("categories") and programs appear in the "Ubuntu MATE" main menu (as the tooltip for the "Main Menu" application says, it allows the user to "Change which applications are shown on the main menu"). The "Main Menu" app is actually called "Mozo": https://wiki.mate-desktop.org/mate-desktop/applications/mozo/ ("Mozo is a menu editor for MATE using the freedesktop.org menu specification. It is a fork of Alacarte.")

I hope this helps you, @DLS  Please, keep us posted!

Hello @ricmarques

As usual, I much appreciate your quick response.

Sadly, nothing pops up when searching for "Main Menu" :frowning:

I ended up creating another user and logging on with it displayed everything again.

Logging off and logging back on with my original user proved to be working now when accessing the Brisk Menu.

That's great! Congratulations to you for finding that solution / workaround and thanks for sharing it, as it can be useful to other users that may experience the same problem when upgrading from Ubuntu MATE 24.10 ("Oracular Oriole") to Ubuntu MATE 25.10 ("Plucky Puffin").
