Hey community, hope everyone is having a great weekend. So, I was having some problems with the synaptics touchpad driver in my thinkpad t460s, had it in windows, then had it in Mate 16.04 which I’m currently running. I’ve come to the scientific conclusion that the driver sucks. So I downloaded libinput and it seems to have solved my problem. I just have a couple questions configuring it.
a. What is the terminal command to see which driver is currently being used for the trackpad?
b. How do I make sure all aspects of the synaptics driver are disabled?
c. What’s the terminal command and method to configure the libinput driver for the touchpad?
d. The mouse still jumps a tiiiiny bit when making small inputs on the trackpad but not sure if that’s just an inherent property of the touchpad or if I can adjust the sensitivity via the libinput config?
e. Finally, the acceleration speed I’ve seen set to 0.00000 something along those lines, how do you adjust values in those terms?
f. How do you switch between drivers, say from synaptics to lib to synaptics etc.
g. Will software updater in Mate find the updates for libinput in the future or do i need to update it from the terminal, and if so, what would be the command?
I’ve noticed something in Mate, wanted to see if you guys knew a way to change this:
a. When I put the computer in suspend with the laptop open, the only way I can “wake it” is by hitting the power button, the keyboard won’t wake it and neither will the touchpad or touchpad buttons. However, if I have a mouse plugged in, the laptop will wake up by clicking the mouse hmm. Is there a way to change this, I’m assuming it’s just a setting?
Thanks everyone, hope you’re having a great weekend!
