Hi folks,
Im using the telegram snap and in the last few weeks the telegram icon has disappeared from my notification area to be replaced with a screen with a red circle and a line through it.
I have tried uninstalling the snap and reinstalling and also tried installing telegram from the ppa and the notification icon is never replaced with the telegram icon.
I'd appreciate any help with this.
Many thanks.
This is being looked at.
Telegram has made some changes in it's post 1.8.15 releases. They have changed how application indicators work in their application and are moving to only have Qt in the Telegram Desktop. This has had an effect on the Application Indicators in the panel.
Out of the box Ubuntu MATE does not have SNI (Status Notifier Items) on by default. As such we are seeing this issue with the changes to the Telegram Desktop application.
There is a work around.
You will need to use dconf-editor
Browse to /org/mate/panel/general/enable-sni-support
Switch default value to OFF and change custom value to True.
It is recommended to logout for this to take effect tho a reboot maybe necessary.
Note some tray icons will look different

Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
Is this something that I should resort back to defaults (in dconf-editor) once a fix is released?
