Hello, I just installed Ubuntu Mate and it doesn´t accept the administrator password. I have re-installed the system writing the password really carefully and still it doesn´t work. Therefore, I cannot install any new software and drivers. Can you please be of any help?
Unlike Windows, Linux doesn’t have an Administrator account. The account is called root, and there is no default password. When you install software and drivers, it probably requires your password, not an ‘administrator’ password.
Wen I installed 16.04 - my password worked normally. In 18.04 the system does not accept the password I entered during the installation. 16.04 works well, although.
are you using your “user name” or root user ?
if you use manual login make sure to provide the username you used created during installation.
I used the password and username I created during the installation. I did not create any new account after installation. So the password and username should be OK.
I finally solved the problem this way: Because my password worked well in Ubuntu Mate 16.04, I installed this distribution and than upgraded it for 18.04. After that operation my password works without any problem in 18.04 distribution. Hope it is functional solution.
Thanks a lot!
