Any way to seperate date format and currency?

16.04 clean install. My system language is set to UK English and my timezone is Berlin (GMT+1)

Everything seems fine except Wednesday appears as Mittwoch in the calendar applet and also on the command line...

If I change regional format to UK, I lose the relevant currency (Euro) and number format for my location, DE.

Short of campaigning for the UK to join the Euro, does anyone know of a means of changing the language date format while leaving the currency or vice versa?

Thanks but not quite what I asked.

I want my system language to be English, my TZ to be Berlin and my currency settings to be Euro. That’s how I currently have it set up.

Unfortunately because of how the regional settings are tied together this means my calendar shows the days/months auf Deutsch.

Not the end of the world, but it means I have to tweak one or two scripts which depend on parsing out the day of the week.

Funnily enough, I’ve got /etc/default/locale open in a terminal as I write.

I knew the regional settings had to be atomised somewhere…first time I’ve needed them. Your guide is very informative.
