I wonder when Wimpy will manage to make App Grid part of the Ubuntu MATE core so users can have MATE menu act exactly like Linux Mint’s mintMenu?
If there is anything I miss from Linux Mint, it’s the context uninstall function and distinction between the software manager and package manager.
Since this topic was split off, might as well include some additional thoughts;
Welcome installer could also be the “Software manager”, and it could even be renamed to “Welcome” in the MATE Menu System plugin if Wimpy so deems, which it confuses me why MATE Menu has that first button in System missing. (It’s even missing in the code since the first button there is seen as “button2”.
But having a more robust package manager that isn’t USC, if Wimpy chooses to include that would be nice to have. The dude that made the Welcome installer could even re-theme it to look more like the native Ubuntu MATE colour scheme and it’d probably be pretty nice.
The only reason I’m suggesting App Grid is because Wimpy talked about it on LAS / Linux Unplugged.
