Running Ubuntu MATE 24.04 on RPi-4B. Ran: 'apt update ; apt upgrade'. Desktop was switched to that (POS) Unity. How to get Ubuntu-Mate back? (ubuntu-mate-desktop is already the newest version)

Here is a big clue. The initial user (defined during the install process) gets Ubuntu-MATE, but other users added later get (POS) Unity. In the past (years ago) there was an option to set the display-manager at login time, we could select something like 'session-fallback' to avoid that (POS) Unity. But now I can find no way to select the display-manager.
I FOUND IT !!!!
At login time, AFTER a user is selected, but BEFORE actually logging in a TINY display-manager selection icon appears in the bottom right corner.
